Nina Dobrev was born in Sofia, Bulgaria, in the family of a programmer and artist. She has an older brother Alexander. When Dobrev was two years old, her family moved to Canada and settled in Toronto, Ontario. In the early childhood Dobrev showed interest in various types of art: dance, gymnastics, theatre, music, visual arts and acting skills. Initially, she studied in the school of J.B. Tyrrell Sr. Public School, then moved to the school of the arts - Wexford Collegiate School for the Arts, where, and realized that be an actress her vocation. Later Dobrev enrolled in acting school Dean Armstrong, where it was seen many agencies.
