With a new era of thrash metal exploding across the globe, Windy City headbangers DEADNIGHT are taking the genre to a new level with their blackened sound which is rivaled by no other. From their very beginning, their goal was to incorporate the best aspects of black and death metal with old school thrash to create a unique band that doesn’t limit themselves musically. In every song, the listener can expect to hear memorable compositions built on thrashing guitar riffs, melodic guitar passages, and epic guitar solos. DEADNIGHT will continue to push forward musically, without limiting themselves to any single genre."While the catchy guitar leads abound, they aren't exactly "pretty" melodies ala IN FLAMES. What DEADNIGHT does in terms of melodic guitar is more closely related to what DISSECTION was doing about a decade ago; the guitar leads, while melodic, are distressing and melancholic as opposed to upbeat and harmonious. When they choose to, DEADNIGHT can construct an atmosphere easily comparable to a band like BATHORY. Everything that you would expect from a good Thrash Metal album remains intact. The guitar solos are frighteningly vigorous, and the piercing quality donated by the production does wonders to the haunting ambience. The drum work is equally impressive, with plenty of double bass work abounding. On the opposite end of things, DEADNIGHT can also thrash with the best of them. The first demo "In the Dead of Night" was recorded and self-released by the end of summer. It was made clear from the very beginning that their goal was to write memorable songs built on thrashing guitar riffs and epic guitar solos. In 2006, a full lineup was assembled and the band spent the following year writing new material and gigging. After the release of their first EP – ”Live in Chicago,” in June 2007, their original drummer quit the band. Following six months of hiatus, Mike and John decided to record their album as a studio two-piece. In Spring of 2008, DEADNIGHT signed a single album record contract with Rotting Corpse Records, who released their album debut, “Messenger of Death.” Soon after the CD release, Jeremy joined the band as their new drummer.Messenger of Death has received excellent reviews in extreme metal magazines across North America and Europe. The song Keeper of Souls was featured in Explicitly Intense Magazine’s Insanity Sampler 19, along with Unleashed and Tyr. In July 2008, DEADNIGHT performed at Central Illinois Metalfest with Suffocation, Monstrosity, Incantation, and Brutal Truth. The band has also played concerts with Hatchet (Metal Blade Records), and Byzantine. DEADNIGHT are vigorously gigging and preparing to launch their second full-length assault in 2009!
